Machine Concept
The TRUMATIC 180 range comprises three types of machines. It will produce cut-ours contours in either flat or preformed sheet metal by punching and nibbling. Forming is also possible on this machine. It is CNC controlled, which automates the production oflarge and medium size batches.
This machine have 16 stations automatic tool changers. Holes up to 76 mm diameter can be punched in one stroke. This machine attains hit rates as high as 420 strokes per minute. Large or irregulary shaped cut-outs can be produced on the TRUMATIC 180 with rotating head and radius tools. The ram rotates the tool in programmed increments between strokes ; also this machine can contour parts with continuous ram strokes. When the machine is producing contours, the tool forms the inner and outer contour at either 280 or 420 strokes per minute, which gives you speed and quality of finish in the contouring mode. The ram moves continuously, while the TRUMPF CNC control guides the work piece.
Extrusions - louvers and other types of forming can be achieved with the appropriate tools.
Machine Design
The TRUMPF designed frame is of welded construction, manufactured in the established and proven "C" frame structure ; which guarantees optimal rigidity and strength.
The work piece is hydraulically clamped into a coordinate guide rail which, in turn, is manoeuvred by powerful D.C. drives. Varioius feed lengths per stroke can be programmed for contoured shapes.
The table consists of a main fixed support table mounted in front of the punching station and behind, is a collabsable segmented table which supports the workpiece in the machine's throat. The standard table measures 1100mm x 1750 mm. This can be extended with four supplementary tables, giving the total working area of 1225 x 4800 mm.
The main drive motor provides a stroke rate of 280 and 420 strokes per minute. The pneumatically activated clutch transfers this power from the main motor to the eccentric shaft.
The TRUMATIC 180 provides a minimum punching force of 205 kN. The hydraulically activated presser foot has a clamping force of 25 Kn. A hydraulic tonnage relief valve protects the tool and bearing throughout the cycle.
The ram is automatically lengthened or shortened afther the insertion of each tool set. This allow the punch to penetrate the die by the correct amount, regardless of the amount of regrind.
The power head as a fixed punching head. his is central to the overall design concept of the machine. The long hydrostatic ram guide accepts off-center load conditions which exist during some operations - tooling consists of a punch die and stripper. These are hydraulically clamped into position.
The TRUMATIC 180 ROTATION uses the tool adaptor as a third axis. Upon a programm command, the machine tool automatically rotates the tool set to any desired angle with complete tool stability and it rotates in tandem with X and y axis positioning. Hydraulic clamps retain the work piece in position.
The automatic tool changer exchanges up to 16 tool sets within 5.5 seconds each.
The machine is mounted on anti-vibration pads for load and noise absorbtion. No special foundation is required.
It takes its instructions for the coordinate guide rail movement, and the nibbling and punching cycle from the TRUMPF CNC control.
The central control panel and visual display are for monitoring all the machine data and displaying the machines'conditions and instructions. They are sited in front of the machine.
